-A Note From The Project Coordinator-
Bleed My Heart actually had been brewing around inside my mind for quite a few years now, since 2004. Growing up in a family of nine other brothers and sisters is what I believe helped shape me into being an artist. My family started out like every other immigrant family; we were poor, dirt poor, on food stamps and government housing. Growing up I never had many toys--I am grateful for this. I always seemed to find other means of entertaining myself. I made sculptures from bits and pieces of wood I found in the yard, I fashioned lawn darts from coat hangers, but most of all, I drew almost everyday. And this is my passion.
Looking back, I realize I have been truly blessed to be American. There are a great number of opportunities here, just waiting to be had. After a number of years in the art field, I figured what better way to give back then to give something back that I knew so well.
Bleed My Heart is more than a catchy phrase, if you can call it catchy, but is more of a wake up call--a subliminal movement. There are more things wrong in the world than the toilet running and shooting the water meter to high heaven. In fact, some parts of the world, the people don't even have running water nor a toilet. And for that matter, thousands of people die yearly, from drinking dirty water, many of whom aren't even 12 years old. You see, we live in a big world, the portion of the world we see is only a small piece. The other piece we don't see might be beaten, abandoned, hungry, or homeless.
Funds from every Bleed My Heart apparel sold, will be put towards rescuing the beaten, lifting up the abandoned, feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless. Thirty percent of the profits will go to a particular charity every quarter, or three months. These charities will be named on WWW.BLEEDMYHEART.COM. This is not a simple solution, nor do I dream grandeur, but I do believe this is a movement. We can all affect each other for the better.
If one person stands up, ten will follow. If ten stand up, one hundred will rise. If one hundred rise, a nation will awaken. If a nation awakens, the world will watch. One person can make a difference, we are all that one.
